Yes, the subject line does not lie. Last night I posted the Prologue to Beg, Borrow, or Steal which is a sequel to Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves.. It's on AO3, but I guess I'll post it here too. It's finished and undergoing beta and I'll post chunks as I get them revised or on Fridays if I have a buffer. It's about 60,000 words of crossover with SG-1, NCIS and NCIS: LA (and owes a lot to some of my favorite fics and a little to my desire to either slap certain characters or better yet the writers).
At the same time, I'm actively writing the third sequel, Lawyers, Guns, and Money..
Summary: Atlantis and Earth could help each other, if politics, plots and murder don't get in the way. But Leroy Jethro Gibbs might blow everything out of the water.

AKA the other massive X-Men story I once wrote, didn't post, and thought was forever lost when geocities went poof, my external hd went sizzle-spit-blurp and my first laptop just said nope, never again.
Because today I salvaged the hard drive from Precious, put it in an external case, plugged it into my latest and there it was.
And do you know where it was? It was hidden in the hidden porn folder.
Ten years ago I didn't want anyone to know what porn I watched or that I wrote fanfic - or at least what fanfic I wrote. Now I don't care. Also, now I live alone (ish, the dog isn't going to go through the contacts on my phone or my porn folder, unless it has liver on it) so there isn't quite the drive to maintain whatever
privacy I could.
Anyway, all hail me and my triumph over technology and insecurity.

All right, damn it, I'm getting this out of the WIP folder now that it's finally beta-ed and only years out of date.

Posting to AO3, because I'm lazy, okay? If Gambit is not your cup of tea or you have a deep attachment to Rogue or the Remy/Rogue 'ship, save yourself, this fic is not for you.
It is complete though and I will post the next four parts every other day, barring unexpected delays.
Via monanotlisa , because why the hell not?
I currently have 67 works archived at AO3, (all but some really old Alias crack fic). Pick a number from 1 (the most recent) to 67 (the first thing I
posted there wrote), and I'll tell you three things I currently like about it.
Meanwhile, the abominable original thing is clocking around 97,000 words and I'm telling myself it's two-thirds done. I'm lying. What the hell was I thinking? The goal remains getting the first draft done by the end of the year. I think it's doable. The last third doesn't involve character building, just looking at everything from an outsider pov and throwing the whole narrative into doubt. Yeah, the crazy was especially strong when I came up with that idea. If I make it work, I will deserve all the cookies. If not... well, it kept me off the streets.

If your link to Allusions or any of my stories there are not working, amezri remains the greatest hostess possible and the site is still up and the stories are available, but you'll have to update. It's one of those tiny, confusing little changes that are almost invisible, but wreak havoc.
The tilde is gone!
Pause with me a moment to mourn the poor tilde. Rest in peace, ~.
No more nasalization, eh.
Allusions is now linked as http://www.eternalvox.net/auburn/
The fiction index is http://www.eternalvox.net/auburn/fiction.html
If you run into a link that doesn't work, try taking the tilde out of it and let me know so I can update the evasive bugger.

DW ate this the first time, so let's try again, this time the lazy way with just links to AO3.
Neither of these are really new; one is my Yuletide effort and the other was meant to post on Christmas but only put up on New Year's. Neither are exactly long either.
Vale of Fhidhen
Betas: mab_browne, springwoof and murron
Warnings: major character death, animal death
Summary: Somewhere ahead, there is a gate. There always is. All that matters is closing it. Nothing can get in the way of that, not for Morgaine, and not for Nhi Vanye i Chya.
Horrid, horrid summary for a story I rather like, mostly because I got to play with 'what happened next' and set it after Exile's Gate, but also because I really came to the conclusion Cherryh's style and attitude has influenced my own more than almost anyone else.
I'd like to say the Green Sea story is more upbeat and it is, compared, but it's still on the melancholy side. It's been quite a while since I wrote anything cracked out and funny.
Flotsam and Jetsam, a Green Sea 'verse Story
Betas: murron anderetria
Warnings: off screen orginal character death, drowning
Summary: She picks up the pieces, burns up the past, and finds something new washed up on the shore of her life.
Going back and writing SGA after so long was not easy and I don't think I could have done it if Green Sea wasn't very close to being original work - I ended up writing about an original character after all. But I love this particular alternate universe very, very much and that came to my rescue.
No New Year's resolutions for me, but I am going to try to write more. I have the ideas, I have the electronic toys, and I just need to find the time, concentrate and buckle down. Possibly I'll sign up for some challenges. They make me cray cray, but they make me write.
Belated Happy New Year to everyone!

Anyone besides me just go into state of the blahs after posting a long story?
Intelligent Designs went up on Wednesday and I'm lucky my WCBB first draft is done, because the vim? Is now vapor.

The story that makes me happy continues to make me smile to myself. I just crossed the thirty thousand word mark and it just keeps unfolding for me the way nothing has in years.
I have a sneaking suspicion why, but I'm not going to admit it, ever. Also, I'm superstitious enough to avoid doing the thing that would prove me right, as I at least have learned the lessons of Greek myth and plumbing: don't mess with it if it works.
And, yikes, yikes, it's past four in the morning. I think it's time to stop tonight.

|SPN Fic Recommendation: Time On My Hands, by murron
|fanfic, rec, spn|
murron has posted a marvelous Supernatural story. I had the pleasure of beta-ing, so I'm biased, but then I'm biased anyway, because mostly I don't like Supernatural any longer. Unless it is by murron.
In which case, well, all bets are off.
Read it. It's fantastic, with the caveat that the violence in it could be quite a bit more disturbing than 'normal' SPN violence, being of the ugly human sort.

So this was eretria's Christmas present story, in which I fail at Christmas-ness, and anything she asked for other than it being an Inception fic. Lucky she's so understanding about the way my brain works. Or the half of it she's let me keep.
murron was kind enough to beta for me.

This was supposed to be a timestamp snippet for aella_irene. It got away from me to the tune of over five thousand words. As these things do. Not beta-ed, no real plot, just lots of things blowing up.

aella_irene, dragos, I haven't forgotten you. The snippets just keep getting longer and longer. Yours are going to kind of break the spirit of 'snippet'. Hi, I'm Auburn. In person, you may mistake me for a mute. Give me a keyboard and I can't shut up.

|Fic Rec: TSCC: Out on the Wire by LithiumDoll
|Binary Love - The Rakes|
|fanfic, recommendation, tscc|
This is everything you ever dreamed that the show could have done after the last episode, Born to Run. It ties together like a 3D Celtic knot, uses all the characters introduced through the course of two seasons, ties up every loose end, has the action and the intelligence. John Connor being the guy Skynet made and Sarah teaming up with Jesse Flores as the two most badass women ever. Thelma and Louise were aimless pikers compared to these two.
Plus there's a dog called Sonova-.
I'm really trying here not to spoil anything in the story, because LithiumDoll dishes the suspense and mystery with the same skill the show did and reading and finding out yourself is such a pleasure.
I read this off of AO3. I mention that because the archive is starting to come into its own; it's becoming a place like a dead tree library, where you can go find something you didn't even know you were looking for.
Out on the Wire
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Post-Born to Run, it's a long walk home.
I miss that show in ways I don't even miss SGA. It was so damned good. So is this story. If you know the show, read it. If you don't, read it anyway, you'll still be amazed, and then you'll be out the money to buy the DVDs and you'll be amazed again.

The newest part of Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves is posted on my Dreamwidth journal (all in one go!):
GT&T Part Five.
Beware the cliffhanger of authorial evil!
Four thousand words on GT&T! I have the Satedan mutiny to write now and I have decided, with the backing of a poll I offered a while back: Melena will live.
Has the entire SGA fandom gone eerily silent in the last few days or is it just me? Is everyone busy writing?

Because I'm at loose ends but don't want to work on GT&T IV, I give you leave to ask for snippets. I'll write you something in comments from 100 to 1000 words, if you give me a prompt.*
A character, a noun, a verb
Five things__________(fill in the blank)
A quote (results may vary widely)
It's twelve-thirty-eight pm my time, I'll stop taking prompts at twelve-thirty-right am. Otherwise, I'm going to sit here and draft and cast a proposed Criminal Minds spin-off starring Joe Flanigan as a gay FBI profiler. Which isn't that bad a fate, come to think of it. If you don't have any prompts for me, you can suggest names for said gay FBI profiler.
Fandoms I have some familiarity with: SGA, SG1, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Alias, Due South, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Magnificent Seven.
I don't take part in Yuletide (don't even know how a novice would sign up), so I can't really mourn that no one nominated Inspector Lewis (though Inspector Morse might conceivably include Lewis), but I'm still surprised. Sgt. Hathaway couldn't be better slash fodder if a fan herself had created him. Maybe Lewis is too rare even for Yuletide?
Anyway, here's a rec for an Inspector Lewis fic:
Five Things Morse Taught Lewis and One He Did Not
Forty-three SGA Big Bang stories were submitted. This is SGA Big Bang's last year (at least in this format) and I'm going to miss it terribly, from a writing and reading viewpoint. But right now, I cannot wait for November 12 to roll around. I want to read and see the art. Especially (I'm a self-involved bitch, it's true) the art for my story!
*If a snippet gets away from me (they do sometimes, see Ardhanarishvara and In the City of Seven Walls, wait dear God, why am I doing this again?) I may post it to Dreamwidth rather than the journal the prompt came from, but I'll link it at the originating journal in that case. It's highly unlikely I'll write anything long enough to need the longer comment length available to me at DW, though.

First draft anyway.
81374 / 70500 words. 115% done!
Screw the epilogue, every story should end with a kiss, y/y? Everything is the sort of long trailing off crap that really belongs in a sequel or something. And yes there's stuff I meant to stick in there that never made it, but I'm wordy and tend to stuff in kitchen sinks and outdoor sinks and laundry sinks and sinkholes if I don't watch it.
Now, where're the names of those
poor saps generous souls who were going to beta read it for me?

79422 / 70500 words. 113% done!
One scene and the epilogue left!
Given any luck, I'll finish it tomorrow or at worst Sunday.
I think if I changed Rodney to a girl I could sell this to Harlequin. I'm not sure whether to be horrified or pleased.

73277 / 70500 words. 104% done!
Uhh, but it's not done! I've averaged about three scenes or four thousand words a day the last two days, while squinting into the distance to glimpse the possibility of feeling human again (Still trying to puke up my lungs - it's annoying now, not crippling, since the rest of my symptoms have faded away. Except for the sniveling and that's a personality trait.). There are exactly seven scenes left. Of course I left the dates for last; I hate them. And I revamped so I didn't have to write a sex scene and then did write a sort of one, with John and his hand, that isn't in the outline.
Anyway, I think the first draft will be done by the end of the month.
Betas, you better brace yourselves. It's coming soon!
Thank God McShep Match is posting. I write a chapter, I reward myself with reading a story.
